Oct.1, opening day was overcast and drizzle for most of the day. The forecast said it would taper off later in the afternoon, so I was in the tree by 3:30 PM. hoping it would. I watched the endless flocks of Canada geese heading south and listened to the woods. Not expecting any action until dark (6:50 sunset), it was a surprise to see a spike buck appear from the bush and search under the apple tree for windfalls. He started to look bigger after a while and sported good 10" long spikes.

Considering the possibility of tracking a deer in the dark and rain if I waited until dusk for something bigger, seemed less desireable than a sure kill and easy recovery right away, so I waited for a sure shot and let fly from 24 yards. The hit was hard and he ran only 40 yards before falling stone dead in plain sight. It was not yet 5 o'clock and I had time to field dress him and get him to the butchers way before bedtime.

Here I am on another computer trying to get the photo to appear.

and another attempt at home...

And another try after getting more instructions...I used to get a highlighted URL here, but it's gone now.....

It's in photobucket, but not here. Why? Any ideas?

What I'm doing is going to photobucket, opening the pic, and highlighting the box under the pic that says 'IMG code forums and bulletin boards' and selecting copy. Then to here and click paste. But all I get is code (see above). I'm beginning to think I'm computer illiterate.

Any ideas?

Congrats. Be nice to see the pic. Looks like it didn't work for you.....

Meat in the freezer is always a good start to the season.

Is 16 edits enough before asking for help?
