One of those nights....

Post by Sandman »

Went out for an evening hunt last night and it was just one of those nights...

First, several ATV's decided that the posted signs did not apply to them... :? Had to climb down and make my way over to them and explain what the intended purpose of the signs was~!

Once I was settled back into my tree the farmer who rents the fields came in with his combine and I have not talked to him all year and always make a point of saying "hi"...Soooo I headed down and met him in one of his bean fields (he has a habit of dropping/loosing some beans in convenient locations for me~!

Back to my tree and although I was thinking there was little reason to head back up I decided to head up and give it the last 1 1/2 hours.....

As I settled in and was just about to start a light rattle and grunt one of the neighbours (great guy and I would never speak negatively of him) decided to enjoy his hobby and passion (sure is a noisy hobby)....

And, before I knew it the hunt was over.......

I feel your pain. I've had many evenings like that - last year was especially bad.

I tend to find that kind of evening happens more on weekend nights as opposed to through the week. When I was working I couldn't avoid the weekends easily so it was a pain. I guess the deer hear alot of these sounds on a regular basis in S. Ont. so they seem to return to normal activities fairly quickly.

Still annoying though!

i have the same probs with some ATV's on a farm I hunt.. they tend to sneak over when they think no one is there..

Last week, my bro in law was hunting and the house about 300 yards away decided to bring out his amp and start singing LOL.. Ive been hunting and wasnt aware that a wedding party was happening down the road. Nothing like setting up a stand and listening to good music. Sometimes all we can do is setback and laugh 8)

On Sunday I'm sitting in my stand and all is quiet when I hear what sounds like a flame thrower. WOOOOOSSSSSHHHHH Silence. Followed by another WOOOOOOSSSSHHHHH. The third time I hear the WOOOOSSSSHHHH I look up and there is a hot air ballon passing not too far over head, I thought it was going to crash.

Didn't see any deer, but did hear some grateful gobblers that made it through another Thanksgiving. :D

I fell asleep on a nice rock during one chase when one of the guys got lost, woke up to a herc doing a grid pattern just over the tree tops, amazing, but I was not going to see a deer.

Sometimes you just have to accept some lumps in your gravy.
