Finally some cool damp weather here in southern Ohio. A light drizzle fell most of the day, and the temperature topped out at around 54°F (12° C).
Hiked in and spent a couple hours in one of my ground blinds this evening and for the first time this season I really felt like I could shoot a deer without having to worry about getting it tagged and in the cooler quickly. The deer didn't cooperate , but I did have one 4 point within 40 or 50 yards. Been watching a bean field the past few evenings and seeing a lot of does (16 does & fawns yesterday evening), but this evening was the first hunt this year when I really was excited with the possibility of arrowing one.
Just doesn't seem like deer hunting weather without plenty of dampness and cold.
It FELT like a deer hunt this evening.
