David, sorry to hear of your accident. Seriously. That being said [and heartfelt] Congrats! You finally found one I haven't pulled yet, lol.

I'm thinking of a name for the new club you are the undisputed founder of. :D

Get well, get deer, any order will work. :) :) :)

Thanks Dan, it's a club that there would be few members to.. Almost have to be blind for the initiation. :D

That explains it. You were looking at your target.

That's some raw power to break that handle. Good thing it didn't hit you in the head . . .specifically in the eye. Could have been much worse.

I hope your finger is OK.

Hah you should have seen me and I wasn't even drinking beer...
I am in a wheelchair so I have to put the stirrup on the ground and use the Crank A Roo in my lap. Well I was uncocking the bow and released the ratchet on the crank and was going to lower the string slowly. I do this all the time but this one time the crank handle slipped out of my grasp. OMG OMG That crank handle started whipping around and around and just beat my leg to black and blue. Fortunately it wasn't my dang crotch! Anyhow I only did that once. Now I make sure I have a good grip on the handle before lowering the string.

Hope the pain has sufficiently subsided in order to backtrack to the point of figuring out at exactly what point in time the sequence of events got tangled up in order to achieve this rare event.----If Bill T. & Co. were to place a warning sticker on all Excals. as to what could go wrong---How big would it be and where in the heck on the bow would it fit?

It's hard not to react to your thread with a smart-assed response, but I will show respectfull restraint. :) :)

Shooting a crossbow should be a solitary activity. Virtually all these accidents wouldn't happen then.

Thanks for posting stuff like this I'm sure it could happen to any one. Any way if you do something long enough it's bound to happen, like missing a deer, misjudging a distance, double loading a muzzle loader. I hope your o.K. I haven't done the dry fire yet or taken off my thumb because of posts like these. I really try to keep it all in mind of how much these toys are dangerous and potentially deadly when mishandled.
