My Halloween Buck

Post by schnarrfuss »

Went out Friday pm with a good feeling. Heard from my brother that the bucks were really moving. He missed a shot on a monster on Thursday night. When I got to my stand, I sprayed a Buck Bomb all around my stand and on the two deer trails that go by it. After two hours I could here walking behind me and seen two small bucks walking about 60 yards away. I grunted at them and they did not respond to it at all. 20 minutes later, I see another bigger buck in the same area as the other and grunted at it. He then turned and came right to me. At 20 yards I shot as he stopped in a clear lane. He ran a semi circle and stopped, then fell over. There he lays 40 yards away. Not a huge buck, but will fill the empty freezer. I had just enough light left to get down, find my bolt and try to get some pics of the deer with the camera using the timer. The pics didn't turn out as good as I would have liked, but I did the best I could by myself.
This is my first deer using the Slick Trick broadheads and Easton Powerbolts, I am impressed. Perfect heart shot.
Found my bolt.

Congrats. Great looking animal! I've been having the little bucks show no response to the buck grunt and doe bleat as well....interesting. Perhaps still a touch early for them?? Not sure.

Enjoy the good eating.

I too am a fan of the Slick Tricks. They truly are a rugged little broadhead.
