How do you deal with rust?
Moderator: Excalibur Marketing Dude
I use WD-40 around the house and fire station all the time
It works great at removing permanent marker from my ammo boxes. I will spray the inside of my gun cases to get rid of any moisture in it.
For protection I like eezox but be careful it is a solvent as well and can take the camo finish off. I jsut put it on the metal parts and let it dry a little goes a long way.
also think about this: hunters put a lot of time, money and thought into being scent free in the woods. then you put something like WD-40 on your bow/gun. Do you think the deer can't smell the oils?
The eezxo will dry and leave little smell

I like fluid film that stuff is great a little pricier than wd40 but its cool I was a fan of wd40 before then I tried this fluid film. the stuff is so good its also sold per gallon for car rust proofing . it also doesnt freeze! it can be bought at canadian tire, wal mart, pretty much anywhere. Look for a yellowish gold can. all i needed to do is spary it on a rag an wipe the bolts. It seems to actually remove rest too. My bolts never rusted yet it's been 2 years. the have me convinced, I stand by it http://www.eurekafluidfilm.com/

Throw the WD-40 away!
Use Eezox on all the rustable steel parts.
This lube dries so it does'nt leave the parts oily to the touch.
Here is the URL study and learn:
http://www.warrencustomoutdoor.com/pl-eezox.html#eezox
I use Eezox on all my firearms and everything else I don't want to rust.
It is the simply the best product for this purpose.
The only down side is the stuff smells when you first apply it, once its dried off the carrier their is little or no oder left.
So just don't apply it prior to going out Deer Hunting if your woried about sents.
The other down side is I have never seen it sold in a store, I have to order it from the web site. Buy the quart size and a needle oiler your only regret will be not getting a larger size can.

Shucks ... got a little rust on your screws? No problem!
Ya'll don't know how to take care of it, though ... that's apparent.
You sure don't need any of the following:
WD-40
BREAKFREE CLP
EEZOX
REMINGTON GUN SPRAY WITH TEFLON
EUREKA FLUID FILM
All of that mess is virtually worthless for protecting from rust. Gimmicks sold to the unsuspecting and trusting consumer who is an easy mark for greedy marketers.
What really works wonders, and what you need, is:
GRIZZLY ADAM'S ALL PURPOSE BEAR GREASE
A-1 Superior Grade
100% USA Origin
All Natural
MSG Free
Multiple Uses
Easy to Apply
Long Lasting
Pleasing Fragrance
Shipped to your door in stay-fresh package (you process for application):
Yours for only:
$5.00 USD per Mason jar
or
$21.50 USD per 4-pack
Please call for shipping arrangements.
Canadian orders incur a $100 USD Aggravation Charge*.
* Aggravation Charge: We really feel like y'all should be able to provide your own bear-derived lubricants, being the country of the Great Northern Wilderness and all, but hey, if you insist, we'll do it for you ... but it'll cost ya.

I always take pride in my equipment, i dont think crossbows can rust since ive had my exomax for 3 years and havent seen a spot. however, wd40 is good, except the fact that if you over lubricate it attracts dirts and freezes. ive noticed this amongest a few fishing reels. I personally use a substance thats called Never-seize. its basically a anti-seize compound we use at work for nuts, bolts, flanges, pretty much anything with a thread. this stuff is absolutely amazing. ive taken bolts apart that are 15-20 years old, and the only reason i got them apart was due in part to the seize compound.

I just don't like adding the smell of a lubricant to the bow. I think sometimes hunters do all kinds of things to eliminate scent and then go and use lubricants on their weapons and it negates all the scent control they have utilized on clothes and body.

I use air tool oil. It is very cheap - you get a lot - and it is very odour free. I use only a little on a cloth and wipe it in a few times a season. As two of the three deer I shot this year came down wind - one circled at about 5-10 yards before giving me a shot - I don't think the sent gave him any worry.
For the trigger and the inside I use a dry silicone spray. I don't like using a lot of heavy oil as you can get a build up and it can collect dirt. The silicone spray protects, lubricates, is odour free and does not collect dirt.
