Found my buck..

Post by Hoss »

I took 5 days he went about a 1/4 mile..In thick stuff..YEP meats no good..nice little 8 point about 125lbs hit him back just a bit low liver..with lungs working and heart pounding he went along ways. Hardly any blood and so we lost the trail..One early morn I heard tha crows Kawwing and found them eating on him aways away from where I was when I hit him with my xbow..sad to loose the meat but glad to recover his rack...on to the next now..

At least you know the end to the story on this one. Sorry to hear you lost the meat, but it does happen sometimes.

Sorry about the loss. It always hurts to lose one. If we all hunt long enough its bound to happen though. Gun, bow, whatever we use a "bad" shot is always possible even though we try our hardest to prevent it. Im glad you found him. It shows dedication.

Too bad you didn't get to enjoy the meat from your kill, but remember that it was only lost to you. Nothing is wasted in the natural world.

We all do our best to kill cleanly, and then recover and utilize the animal we've killed ... but we don't always get it done. No predator does. And, when we lose one that is mortally wounded, the death is not purposeless, nor is the animal's life wasted. Every bit of an animal that expires in the wild is put to good use.

Way to go in doing your best to find him! :D :D

Why should you have let him walk?? Sometimes you shoot what comes your way because you want to. No need to apologize!!

Congrats!!!

tis a hard lesson to learn Hoss.. That rack is about identical to my 2nd buck this year, glad you were able to recover it. Good job.

That nearly happend to me, thankfully we never lost the blood trail. Had we waited until morning, we would of certainly due to the rain in the forecast.

Long Trane I was useing a montec G5..I love them they fly great..but it was shot placement he was out a tad further than I thought and I must have not held my shot. I hit him low last rib..I heard the thwack and thought it was good..I got down..went got my bro and laterns.went back about 3 hours later and found the arrow stuck in the ground ( Pass thru) NO BLOOD at all..followed tracks for about a hundred yards then nothing..to many others to make sense of it..we looked for about 3 hours that night. Then the next morn I was out there with my GPS doing a grid search..every day after I went in a different direction hoping to run across him..well like I said 5 days later..I still cant figure out why there was no blood it had a good hole in him and low..blood must have been going into intestines is all i can say..I will and do use rocket buckblasters in the area because its so thick if they go far you will loose them. Its not my first..The buckblasters are very nasty and leave a HUGE hole in deer. a well placed shot deer wont go but 50-60 yds..

Chris not really opologizing just wish I had a place where I could let them walk young and manage a place..He would have been a nice buck later in life..
