Ray inspired me to post a pic of my new custom bow I just got. It is a 50# longbow with a slight R/D design. The Boyer is Jim Godden of Mississipi Lake Longbows. He does really nice work and yes I have a small problem when it comes to Trad bows........help meeeeeeeeeeeee! Seriously the experience with Jim was great. He's really a great guy to work with.
Ray, show us a picture of your spanking nice custom takedown recurve! Ray's bow is really pretty!

Very nice Boo!

I have a CheckMate "Thunderbird" above my computer desk. I still shoot it occassionally, but unfortunately my shoulder doesn't let me shoot it as much as I would like.

That is a sweet bow Don. This is a bow that was built by a handicapped hunter that I met on a hunt earlier this year. It's only 45lbs but I can't pull it back comfortably yet. Lots of muscles that haven't been used in years  .

As Don pointed out, not bad for a bow that's upside down
God Bless !!!!!!!!!

That sure is a pretty take down recurve, I have one to but nowhere near as pretty, I don't use it any more since I got the compound

Ray that is a beautiful recurve :D

The longbows are nice as well guys, I am an old trad shooter myself, but just do not have the time to practise, hence why I use the Exocet :D

My wife has a custom built Great Northern Critter Gitter longbow & I myself shoot a Martin longbow. My kids when they were small shot custom built Jerry Hill longbows & I also have a few other recurves & also a hickory selfbow, just not enough time in my lifestyle at this time to practise

The guy that built my bow just does it as hobby. He's in a chair and told me that building bows keeps him busy and he loves doing it. It's also a source of extra income for him. His name is Alan Bracket. I hope to get good at, but if I don't I'll hang it on the wall to remind me of a wonderful hunt and a new friend
God Bless !!!!!!!!!

Nice bow, Boo. :D

You too, Wabi and Ray.

I love shooting longbows and recurves. Probably my best deer hunting moment was when I killed a big whopper of a doe at about 3 yards ... on the ground! I was standing in a v-ditch at the edge of a soybean field, behind a massive loblolly pine. She appeared about 100 yards away at the end of the cut and came walking right by me ... a gift from God.

Now, get this: that was TOO CLOSE. She bolted at the shot, and it hit her in the right ham. I was just sick as she ran away with my arrow sticking out of her thigh. She ran into the woods, and there I found the arrow.

Fearing the worst, I left immediately, waited an hour and went and got a buddy to help me with what I figured would be a long, hard and unfruitful tracking job. I found blood right away, where I'd stuck the arrow ... good blood ... VERY GOOD BLOOD ... and I found her about 40 yards in, dead as the proverbial door nail.

Skinning and processing revealed that the broadhead had sliced through her femoral artery, penetrated the ham and completely shattered the femur of the other leg.

I've never forgotten the "CHIP-SHOT-HIP-SHOT" doe. :D

Currently I've got a:

Ferguson Redhawk @ 75# ... handmade by Byron himself

A very early Ferguson Royal Safari @ 55# ... made by Bear

A Martin Hunter with a purpleheart riser (rare) @ 55#

A vintage Bear Grizzly @ 45#

A handmade purpleheart/hickory flatbow @ 80#

And other assorted odds and ends.

I killed the doe with the Ferguson Redhawk ... my favorite of the bunch.

Grizz . . .nice collection . . .however, I don't think there is enough space on the www to post Don's collection. I counted 35 different bows at his cabin alone . . .

Don . . .I expect to see some mighty fine midnight shooting next time we meet up. :D

I love recurves that what turned me on to excals Then ofcourse the accuracy of these bows sealed the deal..my first experience with bows was a recurve. me and my bro got so good we would fill milk jugs with rocks and newspaper and throw them into the air useing flu flu arrows we would shoot the jugs. It was a blast..

GRIZZ my wifes first bow kill was with a compound and she hit a tree limb and it deflected the arrow in the ham same out come dead 40 yds away..You know when i read this i relalized Im not the only one who looks at it like this..

Grizz said---> came walking right by me ... a gift from God. aint they all friend..good story memories of a lifetime..
