homemade knife
I just finshed a knife I've been working on for a friend for Christmas. The handle is a whitetail antler from a seven pointer I harvested a while back. The blade is made from an industrial hacksaw blade. The brass side plates are from a brass light switch cover. The pins are from stock purchased from the Home Depot.

NICE!!!
I'm your new best friend and am waiting for you to make mine. I don't mind if it's a little late for Christmas.

VERY NICE, a very lucky person is getting that knife.
I have made one and look forward to getting back to the forge.

Here are a few I have made over the years.
They youngest one, the antler knife is 40 years old.
The rest are even older.
The gut hook skinner is a SWEET knife.
Looks very fuctional
Here is mine
It started as a Nichol's File and then hand forged and shapedThe scales are Mexican Cocobola
Brass Bolster and Mosaic pins
The sheath,Embossed strutting turkey, acorns and oak leaves. The belt strap swivles
I gave it to my Dad for his 83rd birthday
It put a tear in his eye.
PS
Didn't mean to hijack the thread.
GP, your knife looks far superior to mine. What length is the blade.I like the shape allot.Like said earlier, looks easy on the old hands

Yes it was an old reciprocating saw blade. We had one of the smaller ones in the shop that I use to work at but one time we got some larger blades for it. We cut them down to work with our saw and I always kept the drops to use for knives.fogducker Posted: Wed Dec 17, 2008 11:31 pm Post subject:

looks like a great little knife to open up and skin a deer with..did you make it with an old blade from one of them old reciprocating saws?
Sax I liked your knife too but did not remember the blade being made from a file. Might have to try that someday. I need to learn to make a sheath like yours too!
Mike P, I like your knives too and how you have the brass tang on them. Also like the differences in the handles. I've made some before from Walnut.
