homemade knife

Post by groundpounder »

I just finshed a knife I've been working on for a friend for Christmas. The handle is a whitetail antler from a seven pointer I harvested a while back. The blade is made from an industrial hacksaw blade. The brass side plates are from a brass light switch cover. The pins are from stock purchased from the Home Depot.

I'm your new best friend and am waiting for you to make mine. I don't mind if it's a little late for Christmas.

I remember seeing you post yours too Saxman. Fun aren't they. I've made some before but it's been awhile. I think this is my best yet though.

Very Nice Work Groundpounder.

Here are a few I have made over the years.

They youngest one, the antler knife is 40 years old.

The rest are even older.

What is the material you used for the handle of the 3rd one?

Yes it was an old reciprocating saw blade. We had one of the smaller ones in the shop that I use to work at but one time we got some larger blades for it. We cut them down to work with our saw and I always kept the drops to use for knives.

Sax I liked your knife too but did not remember the blade being made from a file. Might have to try that someday. I need to learn to make a sheath like yours too!

Mike P, I like your knives too and how you have the brass tang on them. Also like the differences in the handles. I've made some before from Walnut.
