This year has been very different than normal. We had a dry summer and the deer seemed to switch from their usual patterns/travel routes. I'm seeing some concentrations of deer in certain areas, but not nearly as many deer (especially does) as in most years.

It's been a good season so far.
Me and my 2 boys took 6 deer so far. 3 with shot gun and 3 with bow. This is the same amount as we took last season and we still have about 12 more days before the season ends.

It has not been too bad here on "The Mountain". 1 buck with the exomax on oct 4, one doe with shot gun, (my first gun kill) 1 doe with the new equinox. I have seen an increase in deer this year, especially just before shot gun opened. One night I had 15 deer feeding in an open feild in front of me. That was a first and certainly not the norm!

its been a frustrating year for me also. i got 2 in the 1st week of archery season none since. i saw 38 deer last year by this date but only 12 deer this year. i harvested 5deer last year the best i can do this year is 4. archery season closed and only allowed Bucks in gun season. i have 2 Buck tags left, i also have a pack of 18 dogs that run chase and kill the deer here i have to contend with. its a most hard season so far. its impossible for me to do a thing with that pack with a CB as they do not stand around still within 30 yds. i have a choice either hunt with my CB and not get another deer. or take my rifle and eliminate my main problems before the gun season ends!

Yes. I've been successful, but it has been hard. We had an early doe bow season and it was great. I stuck 3 with my Exomax. Then the either sex season opened. The deer all but vanished during daylight hours. I took a nice 8pt with my Exomax right at dark in early October. Then I went almost a month without having a single shot opportunity. And that was during either sex hunting. It was depressing. Twenty seven days after my last shot I had another 8pt walk right up on my muzzleloader. Hunting has never been that hard in my area before this year.

Its been very tough hunting here also, did not see numbers at all. I could count all the deer I have seen since September this year on 2 hands almost and that's on 4 diff properties in 3 diff WMU. Most of those were while scouting and sitting in observation stands. I was very fortunate to get the 2 nice bucks this year, they were the only 2 deer I had the opportunity to get a shot at this year. I don't think we will see as many tags available next year or maybe even next couple years.

The icey crust on the snow has made it really noisey walking into the stands I have. This happened last year as well and I didn't get a deer late in the season because of the conditions. They walk out as I walk in.

I hunted hard this year in October so as to avoid this time of year. The hunting is totally different once the shotgun hunt occurs. I'm not against the shotgun hunt BTW. I hunt with a gun as well.

If you're not part of the solution, you might be part of the problem.
