A couple of times a year Doc and I hook up with three other guys and make a trip to Eastern Ky/ Tn and ride our ATV's in the mountains and around the coal mines.
There are signs in the mountains regarding the Elk with stick figures and language making it very clear you are not to shoot them.
We now see Elk when we ride and it is a thrill. And to think we are in Kentucky and seeing them just blows me away.
That herd is growing and Elk will once again roam wild in KY & Tenn.
How long do you think it will be before someone posts pictures here on the forum with the Elk they took with their Excalibur in Kentucky.
Having lived in KY my whole life, I am quite excited about those elk. We supposedly have the highest population of elk east of the mississippi. With that said, Fish and Wildlife have mentioned that the elk pop has gone 7x what the original expected increase would be.
I also know eastern Ky people and wouldnt be a bit surprised if one of those elk disappeared. Its sad and arouses anger but when you live in no mans land, those kinds of things happen.
i know one theing the cherokee indians will want these two protected. i am 1/4 cherokee and with that being said i would want them procted. you just dont see anything like that any more. was thier a white bufflao born a few years ago to.

Nice pictures. Just Northwest of where I live there are lots of sightings of white moose. They are not protected hunters are just asked not to harvest them.

Miracles do happen!
Probably sooner than one might think. The TWRA is considering a drawing for five permits to hunt them this Fall in the Royal Blue area of East Tennessee. We'll see.
Mike P where do you guys ride at.I was raised in eastern Ky and go back 3 or 4 times a year to ride.We ride Magoffin,Breathit ,Ousley and Wolfe.I have seen 2 back in the strips both bulls.I sure would like to see those 2.I have seen deer and turkey that were white.Like Long Tang said there is a poaching problem back there.
We base out of Middlesboro, KY. opossum. Then we ride the tristate area. We are sometimes in Virgina, Tennessee and Kentucky dependent upon where the trails take us.
