A couple of times a year Doc and I hook up with three other guys and make a trip to Eastern Ky/ Tn and ride our ATV's in the mountains and around the coal mines.
There are signs in the mountains regarding the Elk with stick figures and language making it very clear you are not to shoot them.
We now see Elk when we ride and it is a thrill. And to think we are in Kentucky and seeing them just blows me away.
That herd is growing and Elk will once again roam wild in KY & Tenn.
How long do you think it will be before someone posts pictures here on the forum with the Elk they took with their Excalibur in Kentucky.
Miracles do happen!

Having lived in KY my whole life, I am quite excited about those elk. We supposedly have the highest population of elk east of the mississippi. With that said, Fish and Wildlife have mentioned that the elk pop has gone 7x what the original expected increase would be.
I also know eastern Ky people and wouldnt be a bit surprised if one of those elk disappeared. Its sad and arouses anger but when you live in no mans land, those kinds of things happen.

Probably sooner than one might think. The TWRA is considering a drawing for five permits to hunt them this Fall in the Royal Blue area of East Tennessee. We'll see.Mike P wrote:A couple of times a year Doc and I hook up with three other guys and make a trip to Eastern Ky/ Tn and ride our ATV's in the mountains and around the coal mines.
