Outdoor range

Post by Bill Kemp »

Hello:

I just read this thread. I am interested but have no idea where this place is. Can you please post an address so I can GOOGLE it.

Also, I saw that someone might bring a firearm. Is there a place to sight in a 30-30 rifle? I also need to sight in my excalibur. If only I knew about this earlier I could have at least prepped myself for target shooting.

Let me know the address please and the definate time so I can make it.

Thanks

Bill Kemp

I am sure there is a BBQ there, but it may be winterized

Something else to consider, this has grown from a few guys shooting to a fair sized bunch of people walking the course. Something to think about is a small entry fee that can be done in a 50/50 so the club can get something out of it too. Maybe even some form of a shooting contest. Certainly not something that has to be done, but it may not be a bad idea.
It is unlikely there will be anyone at the club to run the clay machine guys.

We will bring some sausages too, some buns and donuts to toss in to the mix. Now my 2 daughters will be with their Grandparents, my son, 6 and wife will be joining me.

And no guns Bill Kemp, we changed that cause of the amount of people coming. I would prefer just bows anyways. I plan to arrive about 10am and help with setting up if needed. Did we ever decide a time?

I plan to target shoot and sight mine in today if not snowing and blowing to bad today. Bought a few more practice arrows for this and a second string just in case. Looking forwarded to getting my as* kicked by you experianced shooters LOL

I shot this course once in competition, but I had a compound. Ranges were all over the map, 20 to about 35 yards I think. Typically rangefinders are not allowed during a shoot, that is what keeps it interesting.

No rangefinders - but you can bring binos. Max distance to target for xbows on a course is something like just over 40 yds? (42?) Compounds can shoot from closer markers and recurves from the closest, I believe.

I've only shot 3D with a group once before, but it seemed to me that the scoring rings/targets on the animals doesn't always correspond with the optimal hunting shot - that's where the binos come in.

FUNFUNFUN!

Might bake up some pies tomorrow.

Glad your feeling better Vix!
I don't think this course differentiates between different bows, shooting from the trail regardless of the bow.

Something else for guys who haven't shot at 3D stuff before, arrows are very difficult to pull from a target, I will have my Miller modified pullers but there should be something applied to the shaft too.
Some of these targets are old, and they hang on real tight!

Thanks for the reminder - will pack some Jig-A-Loo! Hubby just packed the pullers and put field points back on the bolts.

Am feeling much better. My little guy is back in the game too. <whew> Should be able to make it. Hope you're all feeling better too!

Looking forward to meeting a whole bunch of forum members!

Just got back home and checked the forum .
Sounds like fun I just might make it .
Does this mean we are going to see a Vixchix/doemaster re-match? :D

Gotta be careful with those T-pullers on 3D targets. They can pull the inserts out. Should be okay if you lube your arrows first.
