Looks like you had good day. Those puppies might have a bit of trouble retrieving those big mallards.

BTW a lot of great comments about your strings today at the fun shoot.

I may have fallen but only after hitting the center ring on the 45 yard 3D deer in the range. And it wasn't during a midnight shoot at your cottage.

Would those dogs be springer spaniels? We had two english setters, and now we have a very old golden retriever but I fear his days are limited. He's 11 years now with a cancerous mass on his left side. He's still energetic so we're leaving him be but when the time comes and it hurts him,....

We were thinking about another duck/goose dog later. How are they for retrieving? How's they're temperment? Quiet?

Springers can be used to retrieve in water but they really are a bit too small for that. We use them in the field to clean up.

Sorry for your pending loss beretta. Never easy losing one that gives you unconditional love.

I love spaniels. My big Britt male was one of the best grouse dogs to walk this earth.

I love Labs. My big male Drifter hunted ducks with me for eleven years and in twelve different states. He was without a doubt one of the best duck dogs to walk this earth.

Best of all, they were family dogs and raised my children.

Everyone here will have a different opinion as to their favorite breed.

But one rule seems to hold true for most of us.

You just can't seem to go wrong with a dog bred for hunting.
