That string is OK, it is made out of dacron and can be used on carved limbs, as well as magtip limbs.

Here's what the Excalibur site states:
STANDARD STRINGS are made for use with pre- 2001 Carved Tip Excalibur Crossbows with tough dacron and served with abrasion resistant Fast Flight material to give long service and maximum velocities.

if you are worried about cracks or splinters, or just want to check run a cotton ball up and down the edges if it doesn't snag anywhere you're good

yours has the older cast straight riser, you have are great Bow and they are sought after as the carved tip models are becoming harder to find in decent shape. its almost impossible to find a set of carved tip limbs. i know as i seasched on google and 6 diff CB sites trying to find a set in decent shape to buy. never did find any that ppl would part with. i took my carve tips off my 98 model vixen to save for my grandson. i got a set of mag tip limbs to hunt with. with that being said your Bow was made in late 90's as mine was. 2000 was the 1st year for machined straight riser, i think.
