Binbrook Ice Fishing

Post by DropTine »

Me and my two buddies, Dan and Shane hit up Binbrook yesterday from around 8am-5:15pm. Bite was solid and seemed like the schools would come in 1/2 hours intervals, we hit them like crazy for a 1/2 hour, then it would slow down, then it would be rediculous, couldnt keep two rods in the water! We kept around 25 crappies ranging from 8-11" and probably lost that same amount!

We met Scott (CrappieKilla) from the Ice News forum there too and Team Car RamRod from Niagara Fishing Forum.

Here is a pic that Scott snapped of us when we are about to head back to the car Shane(Dan's Brother) right, Me(center), Dan(right). We have a great spot ready for the derby Feb 8.

I only fished there once during the summer and I may have caught 6 crappie. You guys seem to have done better. We've duck hunted there too with some success. Nice spot.

We duck hunt it a lot, killed a lot of woodies there with their wood duck boxes taking really well.

For sure, we are going to go one more time before the Feb 8 derby to finalize our spots we are going to focus on.

Nice hard water fishing Matt! Did you get into anything else there? I live about 2 mins away from binbrook cons area, I keep meaning to take the boy out there. I know they let you keep the crappie, and everything else goes back in the drink.

Just got crappies, a lot of cats being caught through the ice this year, as well as a few walleye, bass, and very few pike.

Good fishing on ya Matt! I have a 2 man portable hut here if you want to borrow it anytime, it is very much like a tent with a stronger frame, it will not tolerate being put up in the wind though.

I just use my Ameristep Ground blind, works awesome with some ice anchors. We had it in 35km winds that day, no problems.
