3D Shoot May 24th

Post by TPM »

There is going to be a 3D shoot at Elmira Rod and Gun on Sunday May 24th (Week after the "May 24"). This will be an "OAA Rules" shoot so there will be a mix of compounds, re-curves, crossbows etc.. The club has a first rate 3D course and it promises to be a great day. It's actually being run by George Wagner from The Bow Shop, who many of you know. The only restriction worth mentioning that the OAA puts on crossbows at their 3D shoots is that they must not exceed 300 fps. How strictly this is enforced I don't know. I see if I can get details on that from George this week.
I hope we can get a good turnout from the local crossbow community! :D

Im pretty sure the OAA put the crossbow speed limit up to 350 fps to allow more crossbow shooters with the faster bows to compete.

The February 2008 rule book still has it at 300 fps. Here's a link to the 3D rules.

86 goes through Elmira toward Listowell... The range is sort of toward Wallenstein from Elmira, but not nearly that far, then you turn off 86 where it makes the big bend and turn down a short road to the range. Check the map below - I've circled the towns and the arrows indicate how we would drive to the range from Kitchener-Waterloo

Thanks for the info! Looks like the higher poundage bows will be okay. Just remember you have to cock 40 times to shoot the full course.
