Scope

Post by deerdhunter »

Has anyone used a regular rifle scope on their excalibur? Are they durable with the forward thrust of the xbow?

A Leupold held up well for a temporary replacement when a TenPoint scope failed (probably 100 shots total before I replaced the Leupold). An Alpen Optics didn't hold up long as a temporary replacement when the second TenPoint scope failed.

My Excalibur crossbow now wears an Excalibur (VariZone) scope!!!!!!!!!!

Decent rifle scopes are an excellent way to go. Compared to Excal scopes they are more durable, manage light better and have better resolution. However the cost to performance ratio puts the Varizone ahead of decent rifle scopes. If you are going to shoot 3D it's hard to beat a Varizone. The being said I use a Vari X III and a Monarch Gold for my hunting bows and use Kentucky windage. There is absolutely no issue with using a rifle scope on a crossbow as far as recoil goes.
