Dug out the wood working tools out and tried to make a new stock today It's only a white pine sample, but if works i'll make another from ash or maple.
It appears that your stock project is off to a great start. It looks great so far. Keep us posted on your final accomplishments.

Yes i glued 2 pieces of 3/4" pine together and ran it through my thickness planer to reduce to 1-1/4 " thick, the side pieces are 1/4" thick, hopefully I'll start sanding it tomorrow.
Looks really good so far I attempted to make one as well, ran in to problems when trying to inlet the channel for the rail. Wondering how you did yours?? Thanx
Looking closer at the picture did you lamenate the sides on??
Yes I did glue the sides onto the main stock, pictures 2, 3 & 4 with blue rubber bands show the side pieces before gluing. Picture 1 shows the piece to be remove for the crossbows aluminum rail.
Looks good. That is exactly how I made mine. Make a sample one first , then a good one , out of some fine wood. Then, start over make a different design entireley.
Looks good. If you are looking for a cheap but nice looking wood, try Baltic Birch. It is laminated , easy to work with and shouldn't warp or twist.
This is my H&R Ultra Varmint in .223 with a Baltic Birch stock I recently finished. I cut out the blanks with my saw, shaped it with an angle grinder and different sanders, stained it with a light coat of Minwax Ebony stain and then Tung oiled it for a glossy, protected finish.
