Do you have a hunting preserve by you? The preserves around here have them for put and take. Chukar tends to run more than fly and they let you get really close. Not a very bright bird as far as I can tell. The one preserve that I hunt, after the hunt, they watch the next couple of days and catch all the ones that are left, walking around the pens. They taste really good so as long as you're abiding by your local game laws and not eating your neighbors pet, bon apetite!
we live right in a small town but next to a ravine and a new golf coarse maybe they have stocked the birds. is the meat white .when we go moose hunting we sometimes shot spruce hens and the meat is really dark and not as good as grouseBigBwanaD wrote:Do you have a hunting preserve by you? What is it?
During turkey season in 2006, I came home one morning to find a chukar on the roof of my garage. As they are not a native bird to the London area, I assumed that it had been locally raised and escaped. I have never seen it since then and have not heard anyone else report seeing an unusual bird.
