Very very nice. I tip my hat to you. Any plans on learning checkering or having it done at a later date? That would be the icing on the cake.

Thanks for all the compliments folks:
I was thinking about checkering but I am afraid to mess the whole thing up. Perhaps I will see what tools would be required and weigh the cost compared to having it done.
The last thing I want to do is after all of the work and time spent (I did it slow so as not to make a mistake) is to mess it up.
If you guys have any Turkey hunting spots that you would not mind sharing or would not mind having me along I would really like to bag a first Turkey.
Regards
Bill

Wow!! That is really nice work! Glad the pic thing worked, those little ones were just teasers, lol. Am amazed at how close it is to the original!
Believe I'd pay for checkering if I had to and I would, don't have the patience to work w/ wood.
Did you by any chance keep track of the time it took? Truely, a work of art.

Hours worked on project
I am estimating that this project took me about 20-25 hours of total time but keep in mind that there was time that I did not do much on it as I had to work.
This is the reason why it took me about 2 months or so to complete. Plust I had to wait at times to use my friends milling machine in his shop and could not interfere with his business. He is a good buddy just to let me use his equipment.
The hardest for me was the final hand shaping of the stock. I did this in about 4 stages and each stage was about 3 hours in duration. I found that my girly fingers got sore using the files and pushing on the wood over this period.
Anyway, it was a great project that I am really proud of. Who knows perhaps maybe next winter I will do something else.
Regards and good luck hunting.
