Got my 2nd bird. Tagged out....

Post by schnarrfuss »

Went out Friday morning determined to get my second bird with my compound bow. Been trying since I bagged a jake opening morning with my Exomag. Set up in my blind on a trail with 2 hen decoy's 10 yards infront of me. After 2 hours of calling I was thinking about moving locations when I heard it, a gobble. Made a call, gobble. He's coming closer. I pick up my bow, put the slat call down and grab my push pin call. After 1 more call, I see movement infront of me. Damm it, a deer. After a minute, he finally appears. Then I see another, and another. I have 3 coming in, two gobblers and probably a jake following. The first one comes in and moves to the left of the trail. The second one, which is bigger comes right infront of my decoys strutting like crazy. It was perfect. 18 yard shot with a 15 yard recovery using my Browning Illusion compound bow and the NAP gobbler getter broadhead. 25.4 LBS, 9.5" beard and 1" spurs. This has been my best season ever, and all with archery equipment.

Great Bird and Great Photos.

It is easy to see schnarrfuss that you put time and thought into those photos.

It is remarkable to me how the quality of pictures and the way our harvests are depicted has improved.

The awareness of how to picture our harvest is a direct result of the photo contest that took place recently and the dividends are really starting to show.

I have tried to "up my game" regarding photography but with very poor results.

I thought these pictures were just great.

Thanks for the comments guys/girls. It was very hard getting some good pictures when alone, but I managed ok. Too bad my brother was lazy that morning and stayed in bed, he was going to come along and video. It would have been perfect.

Way to go!!! Where did you get the bow case (for the cable and strings), and is it considered a legal case as far as the regs are concerned? I want to pick one up for my bow.

I think it's a Primos Bow Sling. I don't think it qualifies for the regs though. I use one as well and they are quite handy.
