A new lid for my toy box!!
Our own Chris made this up for me, he came and measured, then built.
The door is as strong as I could hope for, it will secure my den of iniquity. My goal was to get my guns out of the safes, they are quickly outgrowing their space and it would make me really happy to have them lined up on a rack against a wall, instead of hidden away.
Chris used the door off my original safe and modified the internals to give a nice 3 point contact lock with 4 hinges..
The door is in my neighbours paint booth right now, the epoxy primer went on yesterday, it will be finished in a high gloss automotive paint and done by tomorrow.
I am pretty excited about having it installed!
I will post pictures of it's progress, right up to the installation, I have a feeling it will roll out of the paint booth looking pretty sharp!

Man, that is just what I need ... only solid!
Our new house (1.5 years old) has a 24' X 48' shop in the back. In that shop is an 8' X 12' gun room ... no windows. That's just the sort of door I need on the inside ... not because they make us lock 'em up, but to prevent / delay entry of that room during theft.
Chris ... wanna come to Gum Neck and build me one?

Thanks for the plug Dave, can't wait to see it painted and hanging. She's a heavy one for sure.

Painted and installed, I still need to get the concrete lags in and do some fine tuning with the fit, but it works great and is very secure. The room it is on has no other access, it is completely enclosed by cinder-block, no windows.
Soon the door will have to be shifted a few inches to the left, the staircase is coming out and will be coming down the other side of teh door soon, when that happens the exposed parts of the door will be in concrete as well.
In the booth
Ready for the ride home, the wife had to stop the yard work for me..
Peeled off the wood and set in place

Correct you are Doe Master. But that is not in my house, it is a complete and separate building. I like the idea of Pipers man cave. If I had that set up I could lock myself in the cave and that Viking I married couldn't get at me.Doe Master wrote:Correct me if I`m wrong Mike but don`t you already have one man cave for your cars .
