coyote hunting
I have shot a coyote with a crossbow. Just pure luck that he came by when I was deer hunting. i started coyoteeing last winter for the first time. I have a .223 Ultra Varmint. I am hooked on it like cocaine. Gonna spend a lot of time putting the smack down on the doggies this winter MUAHAHAHHAHHAHAHAHhAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is very difficult to get them in archery range, horrifyingly unpredictable animals. If you are determined to do it with a bow I would use a stand and bait. Calling them in to bow range is tough.lscha wrote:What I mean is, can you get them that close?? I'm not asking you Pyd, I know YOU can.
Getting out there and trying is worth it though, you see some really cool stuff in the woods in an off season, and it is another great reason to be out there.

crossbow coyotes
After thinking about what you were going to try, I'd suggest starting with calling Grey Fox if they are available in your area. Many shots would be within crossbow range, and they aggressively respond to calls. It would be a great way to refine your calling skills. Have fun!
