Cabela bad business practice

Post by B-Logger »

My apologies if this should have went into the other forum but because Cabela sells so many hunting accessories and hunting clothing I wanted to give a heads up on ordering.

In Michigan there is a 6% sales tax on sales of retail items.

My wife ordered some new clothing but the size was wrong. She reordered. When we received the invoice, the two invoices should have been identical because the order was identical. However, the charges were different.

Checking the invoices, I see the sales tax charge is different. On the web site, I send an inquiry to customer service. They never answered.

Today I called. I seems that Cabela now charges sales tax even on shipping and fondling! Hum. I've never seen any company do this. Why now? Has there been a change?

All I got was the run-around. If I am right, as I told the rep on the phone. I have been a Cabela Customer since the 70's....but they probably have gotten their last order from us.

Am I wrong? If so, I'll aplogize to Cabela. If not...

This doesn't surprise me. But I wouldn't blame Cabela's. I don't know this for sure, but Jenny and her tax and spend lackies have been scraping for $$ ever since she drove business out of MI with her small business tax, so it would come as no surprise if shipping and handling were included in the recently passed Sales tax revision that included charging sales tax on services.

Sorry for your problem.

Is it possible to break out how much was shipping and how much was fondling?

I am just curious what fondling goes for these days.

Back in my day it was pretty darn expensive if memory serves.

No idea what Michigan sales tax regulations are, but I wouldn't blame Cabela's for trying to comply with the tax codes. It can get very confusing, and often impossible to get clear answers from the state(s) when inquiring about tax rules and regulations.

I would get in contact with your state represenatives and ask them. They make the rules. They should know them. With all the tax revenue dwindling in the state from the car companies it wouldnt surprise me if they did change that this year to make up shortfalls. Sorry you have had that experience. I have had BAD service at Bass Pro and It is a big part of our local economy so it hurts to not want to shop there anymore. I tell you what. You mail order from Bass Pro tax free and I will mail order from Cabelas tax free that way they all stay employed, And the money grubbing states that cant budget like the rest of America has to will be left in the cold.

Not to worry Cossack, if there is going to be a fondling tax it will more then likely happen in Canada.

They have to pay for that health care somehow.
