arrow FOC

Post by randy rickmon »

I'm not sure how FOC is calculated, so could anybody tell me if I'm in the ballpark for FOC and total arrow weight.

1. Excalibur Firebolt (stock)
2. 112gr brass insert (Wyvern)
3. 125 gr Snuffer SS

I wanted to check before buying and replacing inserts. Thank you.

if I had to guess, its in the 18%-21% range

I would say more towards the 20% range though

bascially it will come down to if it flies good then use it;) FOC helps flight when you might encounter wind and small limbs.

Alot of arrows are 7-10% FOC which fly good... To me a ideal FOC is 13-18%, with the middle of that being perfect. But thats just what I like. The firebolts with aluminum inserts normally have a FOC is 14%.

something as simple as adding a 125gr bhead over a 100gr head could change the FOC just enough to help flight

Would have to know the shaft's weight per inch, what kind of nock and vanes you're using to be exact. If Blazers, alum nock, I'm (guessing) you're close to 20%.
