Which x-bow
Which x-bow
I have a very important question. I'm new to xbow hunting and I need some info. I'm looking at the Phoenix, Ibex, Exocet and Vortex. I will be hunting Texas deer along the coast, which are very light with the heaviest around 140#, but also we have many hogs that usually run 150-250. I'm looking at the longest shot being max 40 yards. I've been a avid compound bow hunter who pratices out to 60 yards. My dad shoots a Exomax, which I believe is a little over kill for our deer. I'm trying to figure out the difference between the Phoenix and Ibex besides the stock. I was thinking about getting the Phoenix, but I was'nt 100% positive about the 40 yards and it's speed. I will be shooting a bolt with a toltal weight around 400 grains. Which x-bow you pick if you had to hunt these animals out to 40 yards?? I don't care care about the lenght of the Exomax it seems a little to long for me. The xbow will have the package on it of course. Any and all info will be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Shane
Thanks,
Shane

I really like the feel of the Ibex, and if I were 3" shorter I would be shooting one.
Like it has been mentioned, pick one that feels right to you, they will all get the job done.

I have the Ibex as far as i know the only difference is the stock. With the stock string i dont no. But with a flemish string. and a 400gr arrow im shooting right at 290fps. Thats with a GT II arrow. the easton power bolt is a little heaver ( i have 112gr brass inserts) At 40 yds POI is the same as the GT.

all of the ones you named will work great. its a matter of your arm length & height. the TH stocked models are shorter than the regular stocks. they all kill hogs quickly 200-175 lb. either or. if i was 5'9" or less with short arms i would go for the vortex or ibex. welcome here u are

I live in the same general area that you do. Don't worry about the ability of the excal line of crossbows to kill anything on the North american cont. What it boils down to is your abiity to put the bolt in the right place. Wild hawgs are my practice quarry . I test my bows arrows, and brdhds on these animals. In my few yrs of using a crossbow in Texas my wife and I have shot numerous hawgs and deer. 98+% have been passthroughs when shot at reasonable ranges 30yds or less w/175# Phoenix and Paradox. I've killed Elk with this type of bows usig good fixed brdhds Slicks or G5.

i just bought a ibex and love it.. great balance and holds perfect since i am smaller frame... the difference between the two is the ibex is an inch shorter and lighter due to the thumbhole stock... it wouldn't have a problem taken either animal at 40 yards but obviously it would be best to get them in around the 25-30 yard range for an ideal shot
Welcome aboard. Fist off, all the bows you mentioned will work fine. I suggest you go to your dealer and try out the different models. Most good archery shopps have a shooting range and will let you find the one that fits you best. I shoot a vortex but that doesn't mean you would like it. You have to see for yourself. No matter which excal you decide on I am sure you will be very happy with it. Good Luck
I am a hunter and proud of it.
I am 6'2" and pretty long arms, so I may have to go with the exocet, vortex or the Phoenix. My dad has the exomax and it seems a little long for me. It seems it would fit me better if it was a little shorter. Now I'm down to three!!! I've shot a few hogs with the .375 H&H so I know a little about overkill!!
