Hanging or not hanging

Post by Vortex in SD »

This is my first year hunting with a crossbow.

Question is for those who hunt from a treestand, do you hang your crossbow like is done with a compound bow or do you find yourself always holding it like a rifle??

If you do hang it what do you use??

Thanks

it is a good idea to have a hook to hang your bow when in a tree most times it is loaded so having a place to put it well digging thru your pack or haveing a strech is a smart idea .i use the same hook that long bows use it screws in the tree and is very safe DUTCH

I use the big 24inch exhanger ones so its right in front of me when needed. Plus hanging it there actaully helps break up your outline. I do have the hanger positioned so its off to the side of me incase I need to stand up. Never screw a hanger right above your head or you will get a headache sooner or later :P

I use the regular little screw-in hooks that are sold in all archery shops. I also have one of the longer screw-in hangers that is adjustable. I have one or two trees where I can also hang the bow on cut-off limbs. Then there are some stand where I just hold the bow.

I'm hanging my bow, hip quiver and my fanny pac, I get comfortable no need for anything but your bow to get to quiet and easy, just what I do.

I hang mine most times when in the stand ...too cold to be hanging on to it here ...sucks the heat right out of your hands ....i either put in an extra tree step to hang it on....

When you hang it by the foot stirrup, practise getting it off the hanger a few times because it's really easy to hit the tip of the broadhead on the hanger if your not careful creating an unnatural noise when the deer is in close.
