Re: skunkwerkz
My own loyalty to Excalibur products is due to their excellent design, durability, warranty and service.Lightfoot wrote:If Excalibur decided to offer a new design or new line, say compound crossbows in addition to his line, would it change the way you feel about either Bill T, or excalibur. Like a betrayal? Would that cause you to shop elsewhere? ... would it change your loyalty to Excal recurves IF they continued with improvements and new innovations to stay on top of the recurve line?????
I trust that none of that would change no matter what Bill T produced. His integrity would no doubt remain the same. And, I think, most of us would be as loyal as ever.
For that matter, most of us would be using the same old bows anyway ... they are indeed that durable and effective!

If guns cause crime, all of mine are defective
it used an exomag rail so putting a recurve riser and limbs on it would give you an exomagLightfoot wrote:even better. so if I swapped out the compound riser and limbs for a excall recurve set, it would provide about four more inches of draw? The rail seems longer than the recurve? Not that doing this would be avisable given the recurve limbs are not designed for that amount of travel and stay in one piece...

Are you familiar w/ the Talisman hype, errr, pipe dream? Non flexing[supposedly] limbs that were pivoted at riser and powered by spring or spring piston? Last I read the limbs were cracking due to flex and the springs were failing. I don't believe any got left in USA when inventor returned to no archery hunting merry old England.
The inventor and main snake oil dude got run off a few forums in USA for blowing mostly smoke, re: $10,000 xbows and no chrony or grain scale, lol.
There were serious questions on legality if ever perfected as some states archery terms specify bent limbs and string.
Although the torsion devices are certainly historical, they may face the same problems.

very true we're all pretty laid back ,though you may see an occasional jab at awshucks courtesy of mikepawshucks wrote:Won't matter. We may discuss, repute, learn, debate, question, and or a host of other possibilities, but doubt anyone here will laugh at you.My attempts to do so however are most likely to be viewed by learned and educated people as hilarious.

Not my cuppa tea, I'm afraid. Couldn't help but think of the chicken house I could build w/ all that lumber, lol.Awshucks. Watch this video about a giant scorpion ballasta used to hurl a 60lb rock (carved spherical). In particular, watch the size of the stone in relation to the length of one of the arms. I estimated the stone to be about 1/8 to 1/10
the length (diameter wise) of one of the arms.
Actually, as a kid, I made a sling, simple David an Goliath type thing and got fairly deadly w/ it.
I prefer flinging arrows from an Excal and on rare occasions setting up other brands for guys that didn't listen.

Nope, no repairs. Just tip em upright and remount. Never even plugged the arrow hole in fender, kinda like a lyric in a Bob Dylan tune:And rumor has it that he is pretty good at repairing ATV's.
"Well, the moral of this story, the moral of this song,
Is simply, one should never be where one does not belong."
Pretty well applies to me and recurves.
