Hi Wheels!! WELCOME Image You came to the right place for fast friendly advice for your Equinox. You may want to give a little more info on the arrow you are shooting tho.

There's a question we haven't seen yet.

I'd go with the Trophy Ridge Rocket Stricknines!! Surprise, surprised . . .there is absolutely no better broadhead.
I'd rather wear out than rust out.

Summer - do you tie the blades shut for practice? If so what do you use to tie them?

I honestly have gotten so comfortable with them that I do not practice with them anymore. They shoot absolutely exact with my field points. I just make absolutely certain there is NO WOBBLE when I put them on the arrow and I have not missed.

My three favorite broadheads . . .from left to right . . .the Stricknine(for deer), the Spitfire 125(for groundhogs and such that wonders by me) and the Slick Trick(for close range shooting).

Image

You can see why I like those big cutting Stricknines. It does take a little heavier arrow to push them through a deer . . .somewhere around 410 grains on my Exomax. Make sure you get this year's model.

Check out the website http://www.trophyridge.com/broadheads/ . . .the new model has a gold tint. The Hammerheads are basically the 100 gr Stricknine . . .I like those too. The Hammerhead has a new tip to it. There was a 3 pack of the old Hammerheads for sale at Dick's Sporting Goods last weekend for $14, but, you do not want them. The ferrule on the new ones are a ton better.

To answer your question . . .in the beginning, I tied the blades shut with dental floss(not the thin stuff). That worked just fine.

For hunting I use one rubberband and they are the dental ones used for braces . . .let me know if you want specifics on the rubberbands.
