Love 'em or hate 'em the Chinese products are certainly giving the North American firearms manufacturers a run for their money. This is compounded by an apparent general decrease in quality from cornerstone North American companies like Remington. Let's hope that Excalibur never gets bought up by a private equity firm like the one that controls Remington.bait pile willie wrote:anybody compare norinco shotguns to rem.870's'very good copy.if the price is right people will buy.

yeah its sad when this happens but if you look into alot of other hunting products they are coppied the same way. I forget the company but there is a clone of a Rem 870 out there that parts are totally interchangable and this company offers the shot gun in a 8" or 12" barrel which from what I am hearing is totaly legal in canada to have if it comes from the factory like that and the barrel hasn't been modified or something crazy like that.
Honestly...I don't see these as much of a threat to the market right now as there are alot of cheaper bows out there and most penny pinchers are going to see the recurve X-bow for $200 and a Compound X-bow for $200 and buy the compound because of the cool factor and because wheels are better.

I have the same opinion about these as I do Middleton. Just another A**hole using someone else's hard work and engineering to make a buck.

Here is a copy of something I posted on a shotgun forum.
It is about the Chinese copy of the Remington 870, I have the same opinion of the copy of the Excalibur.
What follows is my opinion, others will differ;
In regards to the Chinese made copy of the Remington 870, personally, I have a major problem with them.
IMHO. it is one thing for a Chinese manufacturer to make a replica 1897 Winchester, designed in the 1890's, last made in 1957, at a facility that no longer exists.
It is another thing to copy a current U.S. design, which is still presently being manufactured, in the U.S. (or Canadian crossbow)
Except for a few outside cosmetic diffences such as the back of the receiver on the version being made now, the parts in the link look like they were directly copied from the 870, to me.

If the Chinese want to design their own gun, make it a good design, well made, out of good materials and sell it on its merrit, that's one thing.
In this case, it is a gun that they did not have to bear the design costs for, they don't have the same wage scale as Ilion NY, I doubt they have to meet the same labor, safety and envirionmental laws as they do in the U.S.; a few reasons why they can sell them that cheap.
If a person is happy to buy it because it is inexpensive and they work in an industry making, selling or dependant on domestically manufactured products, hopefully, the product they count on for a livelihood is not illegaly copied by the Chinese, or they will not be buying any more guns if they are unemployed.
I have no problem buying offshore products that are original designs and are unique because of their design/quality but personally, I draw the line at a copy of a currently manufactured item.

A little thing like patent infringement is not going to get in the way of 1.3 BILLION people...who have been largely denied the comforts of life we have become accustomed to...from seeking their place in the sun, now that they have the chance. China has a 8.5% annual growth in their economy! The biggest status symbol is owning a car...often with others.
We may not like what they do or how they go about doing it. But, given our current lack or political leadership, as well as our overall ineptitude to negotiate meaningfully, we getter get used to it. Their people have tasted (partial) freedom. No closing that gate now.

Typical Chinese D-Bags who have no respect for the law or copyright. I wont buy anything from China if I dont have to...ever.Bill T wrote:We have been following this one since last fall, when they first started to solicite orders by showing photos of a Vix and a Max, then interchanging parts to make 4 models. Our lawyers are drooling at the concept of them finding a North American distributor so that we can let them show us their stuff! Sadly, there is no recourse to the manufacturer in China, but if anyone thinks that they can profit enough to suffer the pain we'll inflict, they are wrong.
Let's face it, Middleton was small potatoes compared to this threat, we expected him to go away before it was worth the effort to litigate. This is serious and we won't sit and watch if we find a North American attempting to aid these guys.
Interestingly, their prices really aren't all that much lower than the real thing, so maybe the actual threat isn't all that horrible. My #1 concern is that they can copy our labeling and counterfeit them as the real McCoy.
Drop kick these clowns
