Crossbows In Nova Scotia
Last summer, 2008, after many years of refusing to allow crossbows in the woods, the government of Nova Scotia finally allowed the use of crossbows for hunting deer only. We are now heading in to year number 2. A new club was formed to act as a voice for crossbow hunters to help promote the sport so many want to enjoy. The new association has many many, many projects and challenges ahead.
The newly formed Nova Scotia Association of crossbow Hunters is hard at work, along with several other hunting interests, trying to better the sport.
DNR is currently working on an online crossbow training program, which should be available by the end of September.

Ian,
Welcome to the forum! You better start using some of the other 8 dots on that target of your's, or your crossbow shooting is going to get mighty expensive mighty quick! Excalibur does not pay out compensation for split arrows!

This forum has been a great source of info over the past few years. Felt it was time to get on board. Our little club is growing daily.
The groupings in the photos were a one-off. Had the kids out with me shooting. My oldest keeps buggin for a robin hood. Only robin hood he is going to see is on Saturday morning.
The target is alot better than the foam one we were using last year. Pulling the arrows out was just too hard. Managed to bend one trying. My kids could not pull out any arrows at all.

Hey What are shooting for a bow looks likes it pounding them in there alright.
Another bit of my 2 cents those look like plastic nocks in your aluminum arrows, have seen in the past a guy blow a bow apart because the plastic nock cracked exposing the string to the edge of the aluminum and kaboom.
Keep an eye on them or replace them with aluminum inserts.

I am shooting a 2008 phoenix package. Factory string and the Easton 2216 arrows so far. I see crazyfarmer has some custom ones available. May give his a whirl this fall.
Finally got the arrows going where I want. Looking for a good set up for the fall hunt.

Just about saxman. Still undecided on broadheads yet.
Out this morning doing some shooting. We were trying to catch an arrow in flight with the camera.
The arrow is to the left.....
My hunting buddies.

Last years harvest. Wasn't able to use the crossbow last year as the season was just announced. Didn't have it dialed in. I do now though!
My oldest boy was behind me when this fella dropped. Took us over an hour to stalk him once we spotted him. My youngest was just too tired to get out of bed. We hunted hard the day before and his little legs were sore.
He will be hanging with us for good now.
