Cheekpiece

Post by kwlac »

Just picked up my new Vortex yesterday. Just wondering if I should add a cheekpiece to it. Unfortunately they did not have a crossbow with one, so I was not able try one.
thanks,

Lots of people don't bother and others (like me with high cheek bones) like to add a cheek piece to align your head better to the scope.... Excal makes one that straps on the stock... Some like it, some don't... You can make one yourself... Do a search on the Forum for what others have come up with and I think you'll find something to work on....

Thinking about putting one on my vortex also. If you get one let us know how you like it. Some do ,some don't. They are pricey for a piece of plastic IMO.

Got one on both my Phoenix and Vortex, makes a big difference in scope-eye alignment; reduces canting too. Had several that I made out of foam and camo covered rubber, worked but noisy. Actually had to shave before going hunting so stubble wouldn't scrape on the foam, eps when cold out.

Like my cheekpiece. If only the crank-a-roo would work with it.

I put one on my exomax and love it,it holds your face up enough for a scope,my crossbow was not made for a cheek piece but with a little filing and glueing it fits great--Glad I put it on

I never noticed it before but with a bit of stubble on, the foam cheek piece( even covered with material) is quite noisy, will have to reevaluate this before the hunt.

Reevaluation complete minus some paint

Used 1" flex water tube and piece of foam to keep raised on the stock.

No noise from sruffy beard.

Like Dereck I also went with the 50 cent solution and used pipe insulation and camo tape. Works great! TC

I have the cheek piece and love it. Never tried the foam but it looks like it works well. Either will do the job.
