Fletching offset

Post by houndogger »

Was thinking, The more offset you put on a your fletching, the more it would stabilze a fixed blade broadhead, right?

Is there a maximun offset due to the groove in the rail?

Thanks

It depends on the length of your vane.

Just remember, the more twist, the more noise your arrow will make and the more speed you will lose down range.

The faster an arrow is turning the more stable it will become, provided it is balanced in the first place.
The larger the span on the broad head the more important it becomes to stabilize the flight through spin and balance.
Spin a top on the table and see how long it remains straight, then try the same top without spinning it.

Not the best picture, but this bolt has quite a bit of offset. Don't know how much. As much as my bohning jig will alow and still have good vane contact.

These fly amazing, just made two this morn to test with feild points and my fixed blade broadheads. 2 inch groups with BH's at 30 yrds.(I know only two shot groups) not same POI as FP's but I just adusted for that.
The amount of offset seems to work ok so far. I am happy.

Thanks
