FOC for 2219 Excalibur bolts ?

Post by Rocketman »

I've been shooting the easton 2219's ,5" fletch, with 125 grain Slick Tricks. I was wondering if I would get better performance with a heavier broadhead. Would a 150 gr Broadhead make a difference or should I go heavier possibly to a 175 ? Or should I go with brass inserts ? I was considering the Razorcaps because you can just buy a heavier ferrule , clear up to 200 grains total broadhead weight. What would you guys recommend ? I'm shooting a exocet 200 lb. with a fff string. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Why do you want to change it, is it not accurate enough?

Well, from what I have heard on this forum that most guys shoot the GT Laser II's with the brass inserts up front to get better arrow flight, better accuracy, and more penetration. I tried the GT II without the brass inserts and the 100 grain points and they were OK, but went to the heavier 2219's and the 125gr ST's to quiet it down . They just shoot better. Excalibur makes their boltcutter broadheads in 150gr so I thought maybe 150 grain or 175 gr heads may make a diifference. What do you think?

If you are hitting what your aiming at your good, the lasers are excellent choice you can play with different combo's until you get what you want, have fun

i'm shooting 2117's with 125gr tricks and GT 110gr brass inserts, they fit the 2117 arrows perfectly....but i also added two brass 25gr screw on GT weight's too....plus went to 2" blazers and trimmed down the nock to lose weight off the tail end of the arrow....my arrows weigh 550gr with a 21.4% FOC and fly at 290fps from my exocet 200..............bob

Bob 1961, So you are saying you have 285 grains up front? With a total weight of 550, at 290 fps, WOW! Thats fast, and putting out some serious kinetic energy. I never weighed my bolts or have shot them through a cronograph. I imagine that quieted the bow down a good bit. Does the STS make a notable difference in noise? Do they make brass inserts to fit the 2219's , if so where can I get them ?
