Age old question...which Expandable broadhead
Well...it has to be posted at least once/ season....
Do you use expandables with your crossbow and if so...which ones and why?
Am I flogging a dead horse here?

I use the Trophy Ridge Stricknines because they drop the deer faster than any broadhead I have ever used. They fly exactly like my field points. Extremely accurate. Simple in design. Three large blades, 2" cut = lots of cutting.
Compare the size . . .Slick Trick, Spitfire and the Stricknine. All three of these are great broadheads, but, the Stricknine is best.
Field test one of these in a deer and see what I mean.
The 125 grain Stricknine or the 100 grain Hammerhead. They are both great choices.
Which heads are you considering?

I'd rather wear out than rust out.

I'm going to be trying the Grim Reapers this year......not sure exactly which one yet, but I have a variety on their way here to test out..
They come in a 1 3/8" and a 1 3/4" cut, and now GR has a new collar which will turn the above into a 1 5/8" and 2" cut heads.
I've looked all over the net and I can't find a bad report on 'em, so I think it should be a good test anyway.

If you can't set a good example, at least serve as a horrible warning.

Well...so far I have
Trophy Ridge Stricknines 2" cut II
NAP Spitfires 1.5" cut II
Rage 2 Blade 2" cut III
Rage 3 Blade 1.5" cut II
Pretty evenly matched...I was actually looking at the Excalibur X-act (1 7/16")
One of the biggest issues I have heard about expandables is the loss of energy upon impact and hence...no pass through....meaning less blood trail....I spent 4 hours 2 years ago tracking a buck that was dbl lunged with a 12g slug.....I don't want to EVER have to track like that again
Keep posting your favs....maybe we can all be enlightened by this topic

I've shot Spitfire, Rage, Hammerhead & Scorpion XP 3-blade heads through my Exomax. Pass throughs are the norm. The only shot that wasn't a pass through was an intentional shot through the neck that stuck through the neck bone.ger34 wrote:One of the biggest issues I have heard about expandables is the loss of energy upon impact and hence...no pass through.
If you are shooting an Exomax, you'll really have to try to not get a pass through.

That's why I've been flip-flopping about whether or not to try mechanicals out of my Exocet 165.ger34 wrote:One of the biggest issues I have heard about expandables is the loss of energy upon impact and hence...no pass through....meaning less blood trail....I
