I woke up at 3 AM Sunday and could not get back to sleep! so i messed around on the forum for a while, started the coffee, and went out on the patio to see how the weather was. When i opened the door to go out i instantly got a good feeling on the day, it was 57 degrees no wind or RAIN and the stars were shining Brightly, what a start to a day. At 5:30 i get the Exomax out cock her up grab one arrow and start that Long journey {75 Yards} to my Tree stand, I climb up in, get good and comfortable, just as the day is breaking the horizon, Life gets no better than this, as i watch the birds acting up the way they do, a rabbit right out in front of my tree nibbling on young sprouts on the floor of the woods. [I
sit and my thoughts go to my times with my Father and All that he taught me about hunting and fishing, this was his dream, to have his own land so he could just hunt whenever he wanted, God i miss him!] All of a sudden i catch some movement to my right on top of the knoll that leads down to the opening in front of my stand, about 45 yards from me, I see its a deer and put the old binos on and see its a doe not big but is a shooter for table fare. She starts down the knoll heading right to me so i get the Excalibur Exomax up and ready, i pick the spot where she should come out of the thick stuff into the opening for my shot and wait, It seems like it takes her an hour to travel this 45 yards, Reality is about 2 minutes. she finally gets to the opening and Slowly steps into it, cautious at first, then continues out and walking so i put the scope behind the front shoulder and let out a little Baaaaaaaah sound she stops and i let fly. She jumped up kicked the hind legs up and takes off like a bat out of hell {I knew it was a Good hit} I watch and see her clear a little hill to my left and then hear that wonderful sound as i hear crash and then silence. I waited abut ten minutes climb down and walk up to where i hit her {14 Yard shot} and there is my arrow in the ground Totally covered with Bright red blood, I take that Long journey {75 Yards} back to the house, put on a pot of coffee, Call my Mom {I call her every Sunday she is 77 years old and still lives in Wisconsin} I drink a cup of coffee, finish talking to Mom, and then i head out to find my deer. I walk up over the hill where i heard her crash and there she lays! She traveled 50 yards tops after the hit with my 2216 Easton Aluminum shaft XX75'S tipped with WASP 125 grain HAMMER-SSI fixed blade broadheads. The exit wound you see in the picture is where the Exomax blew right through total pass through What a Bow!! I will be having Venison Tenderloins with Fried Potatos for Breakfast
