Something new! (I think)

Post by groundpounder »

While I was sitting in the woods today I had a thought. We had a topic going not long ago about reflective trail markers and multiple uses. Today I thought about incorporating that into an arrow wrap to aid in finding a bolt in the dark. I couldn't use a trail marker but I used a reflective mailbox sticker trimmed down. I already have blaze orange arrow wraps but that still doesn't help much in the dark. I trimmed the last half inch off of my wrap and wrapped the reflective sticker here. I have seen lots of bright colors for wraps but never any relfective.

If it holds up after a pass thru, it's gotta look awesome in the dark... Keep us posted on how well it works......

From the maker of the award winning Grounpounder Mount comes a new product that will set the archery world on fire: The Groundpounder Wrap!

Ok, I know, don't quit my day job to work in marketing.

Seriously, good idea!

A very good Idea for finding the bolt! But my concern would be sunlight hitting it an it being noticed while hunting. I dont even like to wear an exposed watch for that same reason.

Nice!

I once heard that someone (maybe from here?) had taken a hole punch to some reflective tape and then stuck the punched dots on the end of the flat nock.

I don't remember the name of the company, but one of the wrap manufaacturers make a relective wrap. They also make a luminous wrap (glow in the dark). Just goes to show there is nothing new.

This is why I put (I think) in my title. Someone almost always seems to beat you to the punch. :? I just haven't seen them before and thought why not.
But my concern would be sunlight hitting it an it being noticed while hunting. I dont even like to wear an exposed watch for that same reason.
While they do light up bright with a flashlight shining on them in the dark, they really do not reflect a glare during the daylight. I'm guessing because it isn't a large flat surface. And so far I have only done the one and it is not going to be seen loaded in the xbow.

I still like your idea...it can be added to the arrows/bolts and not require removing your favorite color or design of wrap....and I agree that it probably won't be seen by the deer....

What we need is an affordable micro chip that can be attached to our arrows/bolts...it would be tied in to our GPS units and used to find lost arrows and dead deer....(assuming the arrow stayed in the body)...of course it would have to emit a loud beep for 24 hours....I'm sure the technology exists it probably just costs too much right now...

keep up the good work...

There actually was a unit about 10 years or so back, that slipped into an aluminum shaft, and emitted a radio signal. The arrows were modified slightly to prevent pass through and stay in a deer. Then you "tracked" the signal with a reciever. It was designed for verticals. I don't remember the cost.

Again, the nothing new department.
