Definitely true. During the deer archery season, you are only allowed bheads in your possession. Somebody brought this up last week and they're right.Pydpiper wrote:Definitely not true, I usually have a blunt with me too, more in season out there then just deer.gogo wrote:Just thought of it in ontario it is supposed to be against the law to have anything other then broadheads in your quiver during deer season. If that is true and I beleive it is rope cocker is the only way to go.
You can also carry two bows.

The first week I got my bow I was using the rope cocker to unload the bow. I don't know where my mind was or what I was thinking but I only attached one claw instead of both. Bad move!
I thought I was fairly strong in my upper body but MAN that little ol' Phoenix showed me who was stronger! It wasnt me.
Moral of the story, NEVER NEVER pull that trigger until you are positive you did everything right beforehand.
I got lucky, only one badly jammed finger and a few scrapes on my knuckles. One time was enough for me.........

I tried the ropecocker last nite to uncock my Exocet...watched the video and gave it a whirl...was easier than I thought...I don't know what I was afraid of...I guess I was worried it would yank my arms off...
I am glad I tried it...I will be using the rope from now on...

people are mislead and think that its the full weight of the limbs coming down on the rope cocker when using that. Actaully it feels like maybe 5lbs of energy. You dont even know you have pulled thr trigger when using the rope cocker.
I personally wouldnt shoot any arrow into the dirt and risk damage to it..

Deer season here lasts three months, so for that period you are not allowed to hunt small game with blunts or judo points or which ever you desire????? That's like saying you can't use a combination gun during gun(deer) season, and have both barrels loaded for different quarry. ie. 30-30 and .22. I think so long as you have the licences to hunt the different species you should be ok.Phoenix_Tom wrote:Definitely true. I've gone hunting with a .22 on my shoulder and a .303 on my hands.
The hunting of migratory birds does allow the hunter to carry more than one shotgun but only one may be fully assembled.
You can take the man out of the woods but you can't take the woods out of the man.

I can uncock my Vixen by hand, but it's MUCH easier with the rope cocker, especially when it's cold out and my fingers are numb.

uncocking
i used my hands or years but now us the rope it does take any risk of injury or damage out of the way .as far as carrying other heads well deer hunting .the rules say you must have two sharp cutting edgesthat are at least 22 mm wide to hunt big game and turkeys .in ont .so if you are sitting in a tree hunting .it woulod be hard to say you are hunting small game .i guess it would be up to the wardens decision why risk it .my 2 cents DUTCH

I think that's one of those laws that would not be enforced unless you were an ahole.dutchhunter wrote:.as far as carrying other heads well deer hunting .the rules say you must have two sharp cutting edgesthat are at least 22 mm wide to hunt big game and turkeys .in ont .so if you are sitting in a tree hunting .it woulod be hard to say you are hunting small game .i guess it would be up to the wardens decision why risk it .my 2 cents DUTCH

I'm with CF . . .it's too easy to use the rope, so why risk damage to an arrow. It's also fairly easy to uncock the Exomax using my hands, if I have gloves on . . .otherwise, I'd rather dry fire it.

I'd rather wear out than rust out.

OUCH!!!!!!!!DanO wrote:That one tip took alot of the anxiety out of hunting with my crossbow. I took one across the fingers when my gloved hand punched the trigger before I had a good hold on the string with both hands. Good thing there was snow around to kill the pain. The rope cocker trick is excellent but as Awshucks says check the setup to make sure.
