I suspect all of the above, however, now that the hunting season is so close more people are jumping onboard to learn as much as they can and share some stories and stuff. I'm already finding it hard to keep up on the welcome signs they should be getting.

I just joined, and did so...

...because PA just opened their regular archery season to crossbow hunting. I've always wanted to try a crossbow, but never took the plunge. I always filled both my tags before second season archery came in, when crossbows are allowed for a couple weeks. I figured since I always filled my tags it wouldn't be much fun having a crossbow around the house but never get to hunt with it. Now I can...and I'm psyched!!! Can't wait till October 3!

Good hunting folks!

New Jersey is the reason this New Yorker has added another option to the arrow flinging arsenal, and yes I am cramming to get the bow ready even though I don't plan on using it until January, well after NY season is over.

In some zones the Jersey archery season starts a month earlier than NY, and the winter season runs for 30 days, six weeks after NY is closed. I'm adding 2 months of bowhunting to my season by getting a Jersey license.

A crossbow makes perfect sense for a backup plan in case of injury, to use in late season / cold weather, or just to try something new that might be fun.

I have been a compounder only for many years, but this year I added a Hoyt Dorado recurve and now a crossbow.

More choices = more fun. Thanks all for the warm welcome. . :D

in my part of ontario the bow hunting season is from oct till the end of december except for a couple of weeks of controled hunts. bow or crossbow gives you a longer season. having had shoulder surgery a compound or long bow was out of the question.i bought a phoenix crossbow and am thrilled with it. now the more knowledge i can get about crossbows the better. and no dought about it this site has great people willing to share there knowledge. no wonder folks want to join the forum

I've always shot compound bows but I started having shoulder problems in August. I had an MRI run and the doctor found a torn rotator cuff. Shooting my compound is out of the question so I did some reserch and decided to buy an Excalibur. I will be having surgery in Feb after the Alabama gun season. I bought mine so I could enjoy the early bow season without having to shoot my compound.

Because I wanted info on Excal bows. I grew weary of all the problems my old crossbow was giving me, and wanted something simpler, reliable, yet still pretty fast. I found it :D ! My Exomax,(Trixie) is all that and more. At 40 yds I can hit a dime everytime off of a rest. And more often than not offhand. This thing is incredible! I Love this bow! 323FPS, with a 396 grn arrow, and that is with a factory string.
