Interesting! We also hunt off the Dog River Road - have for many years.Thunder wrote:[quote="schnarrfuss
Thunder, we hunt north of Thunder Bay in area 15B. Off of the Dog River Road.
We are not far from Pakashkan Lake Lodge. Where is your camp?[/quote]
We, schnarrfuss and all, typically camp south of Armistice Lake. About 15 miles southwest of Pakashkan Lake.
If the thrill of the hunt is lost, then I have lost.

I've camped at Armistice, at the narrows. Know it well. You guys are about 15 min from where we generally hunt. Do you camp on one of the lakes near the Armistice/Dog River Road intersection, or further north up the Armistice road?
I'm planning to head up that way Sat for a hunt, although it gets better in the last couple of weeks.

We know that spot also Thunder. Beautifull spot there. We camp down by the old airplane strip if you know where that is. We only archery hunt there though. How did everyone do up there this year??

I know the airstrip well - SE of Elph Lake. I missed a gun opportunity on a bull that could be a twin of the one your party took, last year. That was right beside the DRRoad about 600m east of the airstrip, at the creek. I wasn't fast enough and it walked into the winter cut and was gone.schnarrfuss wrote:We know that spot also Thunder. We had an archery cow tag only this past fall. After almost 2 weeks of marginal weather we had one in our sights, but a bit too far out to release the bolt. My bro' passed on it. Better luck next bow season. Hoping for that bull tag.
I DID head on up there last weekend - nothing moving in your area, little in ours. I got up to the Armistice narrows. The road is nasty there now and bridge has been taken out by MNR. It looks as if 4X4's have driven through the creek to cross . Looked risky - lots of flow.
