Some pictures of your hunting camp? I love sitting around and looking at other hunters camp and hunting area; Thank you
Hunt hard, respect what you hunt and waste no meat;
This is the camp where I started hunting around 4 years old with my dad and 5 uncles.
It looks a whole lot different now than back then.
We started with a big army surplus Tent.
Then we got an old school bus,we were movin on up.
This is the existing spam
Thats my dad eating
Here's one my dad killed, strange rack
The bass is mine, just under 10 pounds
A tribute to my Uncle Burl. aka B.O. aka Liverlips. He was quite a character and I miss him very much.
He used his pocket knife to make the flower out of a can.
He has his trusty double barrel in his lap.
PM me and I'll tell you what he named the gun.
A few pic's of days gone by,check out the rack in the first picture.
Nice buck for anywhere but it was shot at our club by Mr. Reggie.
He's also the one in the next pictures after he ran into our truck.
This is our cabin now, long way from a tents and campers that we called "The Snake Pit" I'll bet every camp has a snake pit
This is what we call the "overflow Room"
The members would all bring their campers to stay in and when we had guests we put them here so they can have privacy.
Two beds,sink,small fridge,washer & Dryer
I like rockin on the porch and callin turkeys to the back of the pond.I'll find the pic's of the pond later, they are not in this folder. You can barely see it in the back.Oh yes.it is stocked.
Me and Dad,You have to figure out who is who.You can see where I got my rugged good looks
Some pictures of the woods we hunt together
Who is that masked stranger
Getting ready to load up in dad's truck
This is Me,Dad and a young man from the hood we brought along.
This is my first buck and it took me over 40 years to get him.
I was to have him mounted and the rack was stolen along with countless others from the taxidermist.Story of my life.
I'm sure there are more.
I'll try to find some from the 60's
Sadly there are no members anymore. Most of my Uncles have passed on or are up there in years.
I am the only one that still hunts regularly that I know of.
If I live long enough I want to bring it back to it's glory days.
we still go there allot and fish, ride the woods and call the turkeys.
My dad has hooked up with another club in the same woods and he rides with them now but we still stay there at the camp.
it's called Oak Ridge Hunting Club,I make turkey calls and thats what I call them.
Lot's of memories for me there,I drank and threw up my first whiskey and cigar(while dad was asleep) Got in my first fist fight and help make my first child so you could say the place is in me and I in it.

on the southern shores of Lake Superior ( Michigan ). The tent is older than I am (52). We have a homemade woodstove that vents out the bottom and underground, under the tent wall & then back out. A large bucket of water resides on the exhaust for a constant supply of hot water and alittle humidity - it gets well over 100 degs F in that tent (14x16).
Cozy
I am not sure why when the camera comes out, everyone is playing pocket pool.....
Here is another.

I'm replying for Tim - and yes it is!MADMAX2 wrote:TPM is that model savage 99 in 300 cal?
When I first hunted out west in the 80's a boyfriend had given me his Savage. When we broke up he wanted it back. Then I moved to Ontario and didn't hunt again until I met Tim in 2000. Tim told me that Savage was his favourite rifle. When I told Tim I'd taken my first deer with a Savage 99 in .300 but that I didn't have the gun anymore, he turned around and bought another one for me. Better than jewelry... I knew it was love!

Sax: A man after my own heart ----- "a humpback". I have a 1971, light 12, 12 ga., and I was able to pick up a 1967, 3 " 20 ga for my daughter. They are a reliable unit and it is too bad that they are discontinued.
Nice pictures of your camp and no doubt a load of memories.
Good Luck.

As Vix mentioned, yes it is. Nothing beats a lever gun for hunting deer in the bush and in my opinion there's no better caliber suited to it than 300 Savage . That particular 99 was made in 1949. Vix has a nice 99 carbine made in 1955.TPM is that model savage 99 in 300 cal?
