I'm confused...
In Ontario in area 73 or 74A or 54 are we allowed to bow hunt during the firearm season. It says archey season is close the two weeks But it shows bows in the firearm season. Can we bow hunt just have to wear orange? What's the deal...
Regardless of the what gear you are allowed to hunt with, if it says that archery is closed then it's a controlled hunt which you have to apply for ahead of time.
That means unless you applied for and received a special permit for that week, you're not allowed to hunt.

Hi Tye, long time man .... Hope all has been good with you...
My Understanding of it is..... you can use your bow during gun season, but you need to wear orange ..... The regulations book is a little misleading ,,, I would call the MNR just to make sure, if you plan on using your bow.
Take care
Harry

I agree tho the book is confusing
Tye the Regs are confusing.
An example of how to read the regulations.
Bow only season ............................... Oct 1 - Nov 1
Rifle, shotgun, muzzleloader, bow ....... Nov 2 - Nov 15
Bow only season ................................Nov 16 - Dec 6
Muzzleloader, bow ..............................Dec 7 - Dec 14
Bow only season .................................Dec 15 - Dec 31
The above dates are only dates and not to be taken as law
Above you can see that there are 5 different seasons. Bows can be used in all 5 seasons in this situation. Rifles & shotguns, only in one season and muzzleloaders in 2 seasons. The MNR splits the times up into different seasons. Try not too look at the hunting season as ONE SEASON, but as many seasons which you can add together to form a larger season.
But as VixChix stated, you must follow the rules for each season. If it is controlled hunt, this means you must of applied for special permit to allow you to hunt during this season, in gun seasons for deer or moose you must wear orange vest and hat when hunting in the bush. Only duck hunting are you premitted to hunt without the orange.
If one of the above seasons did not list BOW in the spot where your choice of hunting tool is listed, then you can't use bow equipment.
Hope this helps.

Was checking hunting regs for something else and came across info on Bow Hunting during the Controlled Hunt Times and remembered this post
From this MNR web page
http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/en/Business/FW ... 1275P.html
Down load the Deer Hunting pfd file. Then see page 11 & 14
Basically the only area that you can use a bow during the Controlled Hunt is Area 80
