hit one but

Post by mrxbower »

Hi guys, I was out this morning and about 7:00 i had a bunch of doe running up and down the mountain and two deer i couldnt make out.about 15 min. later i see a small 6 coming at me . i stopped him at 20 yds. and he stopped but was nervous. i took the shot and he lunged forward and i hit him high and back. he ran 30 yds. and stopped for 15 min. just standing i could see my arrow in him then he runs 15 yds in the thick stuff and just stands there for 10 min. then he runs with tail flagging. i waited 3 hrs.turkeys were around also got down no blood anywhere i grid searched till 4:00 and didnt find any sign . do you think he will survive.

Sounds like he's gonna be around for awhile, a high hit close to the back shouldn't be fatal.

he's real smart now, gonna beharder to get next time. Good luck, you may get another crack at him someday.
The tail up when he ran tells me he's gonna make it.......

If you hit him high enough he'll probably be ok.

I stuck a nice buck high with an arrow once (my first shot at my first deer while hunting under my own guidance..... still mad about it  ) and broke off about 3-4" in his back area.....

I know he survived. Get back out there and get him!
