Finally!!!

Post by TECOXE »

Well after four full seasons of crossbow hunting I finally sealed the deal.
I spent the better part of the first three seasons either making mistakes (and learning from them) or just not seeing any deer, which was very discouraging.
This morning was the icing on the cake.
I got into my stand at approx. 5:30 a.m. and settled in to watch a beautiful sunrise. At approx. 7:45 I look to my left towards a cut bean field and there he was. He was standing broadside in the lane way between the bean field and the woods. I was set up about 45 yards in the woods on my ladder stand and he started to head my way. I had set up a sent wick with 'Tinks' about 25 yards out from my stand and he was heading right for it.
As he approached he cut in towards me and offered a perfect broadside shot at 20 yards. I zeroed in on the vitals and launched my 'Crazyfarmer Special' off the deck of my Exocet.
Next thing you know a huge donkey kick and off he went about 35 yards.
He stopped and stood for about a minute then crashed to ground with very little movement.
What a feeling to finally get my first deer, something I will never in my life forget.

One 10 pt. Buck!!!!

A special thanks to all of you who post there hunts and experiences on this forum. By reading your posts I not only learned but it kept that drive alive.
I'll try to post picks later, since I have never had much luck in the past I didn't bring a camera in the field (of all days).
