We made it back
Well Texas was everything that we expected and so much more. We first had the pleasure of meeting one of our own, flightattendant100. Just a great guy to be around.
On to the hunt!!!! I knew what we were told but I was not prepared at how many great bucks that we were going to see. On the first morning Tyler and I saw 9 bucks as they chased does in and out of the wheat field while some hung around the feeders. It was a sight!!!!!! We arrived at the lodge after the mornings hunt to hear the dreadful news that Uncle Ellis had missed a great 10 pointer at 75 years . That buck should have not returned because Uncle Ellis didn't miss this time . He scored 153 & 1/8th". A beautiful 10 pointer. Ellis had his eyes closed.
Tyler and I hunted early mornings and late afternoons and without realizing it we let some nice bucks pass that we should have taken. On the last day, Tyler hunted a stand where some nice bucks had been seen but they never showed back up but Tyler was cool with that. I harvested a nice 130" eight point that was chasing does around a wheat patch.
I know that I'm jumping from day to day but I'm so exhausted. On the second evening of the hunt at the dinner table, the outfitter had expressed many times at how he admired Tyler's maturity and respect for the deer on the ranch so he made an unthinkable promise. If Tyler was not successful on the last day, he could return next year for a trophy hunt and absolutely no charge!!!!! This is a $3,000 hunt and unfortunately the only deer that Tyler saw on the last day were young 8 and 10 pointers so he has a free pass for next year so I went ahead and re-booked for 2010. We had the times of our lives folks .
BTW, here's a beautiful sunset that Mike P spoke of . We'll add more pictures and sfuff later when we get some rest.
Oh, Tyler found a little something that he liked

I really have to say that I admire Tyler's decision to wait for another year to get the buck that he wants rather than settle for something less. This trip was about a whole lot more than killing deer as it should be. It was about closeness, learning, facing fears and fulfilling dreams. Uncle Ellis is still grinnin from ear to ear .
God Bless !!!!!!!!!
