Got in the stand a little late this morning. Had been legal shooting for about 20 minutes when I got there. In the first 1/2 hr I saw 4 deer but none within my allotted shooting range. At 6:45 AM I see a doe trot across the corner of a bean field and into the woods. I turned and looked in the direction she came from and there was a doe standing there, 30 yards, quartering toward me and looking straight at me. I am very comfortable in making that shot. My Exocet was laying on the rail of my 2 man stand. I, ever so slowly, eased up my bow, placed the crosshair on the left side of her chest just inside the left shoulder and pulled the trigger. The 100 grain Spitfire did its job. It entered where I had the crosshair and exited just in front of the last rib on the right side taking out one lung and cutting the heart. She ran about 40 yards behind me and I heard her crash. A fairly young dry doe. Tender freezer meat. I also a Great buck(150-160 class) but he had his nose to the ground and even a Snort-Wheeze would not slow him down. The doe he was trailing had gone thru before I got there.
