I am finally back home and done hunting for the season……I think.

My husband got a nice 7 point and it had such a big body we wondered what neighborhood it came from. My son got a 6 point that is one of the smallest deer I have seen in a long time. Funny, everyone who hunted this year kinda whined that they weren’t seeing many deer. They all got one. Probably aren’t any left.

I hunted an elevated box blind on one of our fields and didn’t really expect to see anything since it had been hunted a few times. And that’s where my husband got his buck. I had passed up 5 does during the week and watched a couple of young bucks. At 4:55 pm some does started easing out of the woods and heading for my husbands sickly food plot. I checked noses and they looked to be a bit short so I waited until a bigger doe came out. She did and I got her in the scope and waited for her to stop. When she stopped, I squeezed the trigger and she dropped. I ranged her after I shot since I didn’t have time to range first but I knew the approximate distances because I ranged around while I was waiting. She was 110 yards.

My son’s friend was hunting with us and finally got his buck on Thursday night. We had 4 deer left on the buck pole and decided to process them at camp. My husband had to work Wednesday and Thursday but brought back the meat grinder, Foodsaver, meat buckets, cutting boards, knives and V sharpener. The 4 of us cleaned and vacuum packed 3 deer on Friday and 1 Saturday morning. We are done!!! I am home and have 2 days to get my house in order for 18 house guests arriving Tuesday thru Friday for Thanksgiving.

Next year I am moving Thanksgiving to a different week. It will be easier than trying to move deer season.

I had the stock cut down. (my husband laughs 'cause it looks like a toy to him). I also had the trigger worked and it is a nice shooting gun.

Once you shoot a light trigger there is no going back. Congrats on a great season.
