making a adapter for fletching bolts

Post by steve ypsi mi »

I have 16 old aluminum arrows that I cut down and put the easton aluminum inserts front and back like the excalibur arrows have.
I have Jo Jan fletchers, (do 6 at a time)
they sell a adapter but 10 bucks a piece and I need 6
so after a few trys came up with this
took old target points 100 grain and screwed the target point in the rear of the arrow fletch end, then took a plastic nock and hot glued it to the target point and as soon as i thought is was right I spun it on a arrow spinner to make sure it was glued true and moving fast if they weren't I moved them to true them, if you are not fast enough they have to be cut off (could use a flat surface like a table also)
If you have a arrow spinner place the arrow on it before glueing or as I said a flat table to check it for trueness, then spin it to make sure its true before it cools

I love the homebrew method, and you did one of the best homebrew runs I have seen yet on that adapter, great work!

I made some from old style Gold Tip nocks. They used to make these with a small 6-32 threaded hole down the center, and that had a set screw you could tighten down to spread the insert part of the nock to lock it into place.

I cut off the insert part of the nock and ran an 8-32 tap through the hole, and screwed in a long 8-32 set screw.

I took the easy road and bought mine at the Bow Shop. looks no different than above. Think they were 5 bucks.
