well! Thanks all! And you too Bob, for the complimenting photo! Sorry I was missing in action here, was elbows deep in the bowels of my BMW's engine all day yesterday. Got the heads boxed up for shipment to shop tomorrow.

63 is nothing special, I've lived my whole life like I'd be dead before 40, don't ask, lol.

Happy Birthday 'shucks. How many miles you log so far? Just had one myself not long ago. Turned 69, I'm proud to say....about twice as long as I once thought I would, or had reason to expect doing so. Here's wishing you many, many more.

Compression on low end of acceptable, my year model ['81] has rep for poor exhaust valve seats, can't track PO contributions, so decided to go thru motor and get 'er right. Had three of the 'S' models in the past, '76[5?] R90S, '77 R100S, '80 R100S, the one I shoulda kept. All before my 1st computer, stupid me, just drove them. The R90S from Montana to Cali and then back to Il, the '80 from Il to Pa and back. The '77, well, way to fast for way too far................Out ran 13 State cops on that one. I shudder at the memory, but it seemed like a good idea at the time. Remember my 'dead before 40' observation.

This one developed a huge puff of smoke on cold start out of one side. Think mosquito fogger.
Our fate became sealed at that point, lol. I did have the presence of mind to name it: "Ms. Money Pitt'

Sorry to get O/T, but it's now that time of year.
